About

NODE makes art objects that happen to be wearable — bags, eyewear and caps built to carry work that would otherwise have stayed on a wall.

The NODE workshop

A print hangs in one room. This one goes everywhere you do.

Art has always had a distribution problem. It gets made, it gets framed, and then it waits for someone to walk past it. We were more interested in what happens when the work leaves the room — when it is carried through an airport, set down on a desk, worn in weather.

That imposes real constraints. The surface has to survive being handled. The composition has to hold together while folding around a corner. Solving those problems is the engineering half of this, and it is the half nobody sees.

01

The drawing leads

Nothing starts as a product brief. The work comes first and the object is designed around it — which occasionally means a difficult, expensive shape. We build it anyway.

02

Technology serves the image

Precision is not the point, it is the cost of entry. Sub-millimetre registration exists so a composition survives contact with a seam. Every process decision answers to the artwork.

Editions close

Runs are numbered and finite. When one ends we retire the files rather than restock. What you own stays as rare as it was the day you bought it.
