It begins as a composition, not a product brief. The panel geometry is derived from the artwork afterwards — which is why the seams fall where they do, and not where a pattern-cutter would have put them.
Pigment is laid down before assembly, registered to a quarter of a millimetre. A line that crosses a seam still reads as one line. This is the part that ordinary manufacturing gets wrong.
Each run is numbered and closed. When the edition is finished the files are retired — no restock, no seasonal repeat, no second colourway to soften the first.
NODE starts at the drawing, not the product brief. The bag is what the work needed in order to leave the studio.
Most accessories are designed as objects and decorated afterwards. We work the other way round. A piece begins as a composition, and everything downstream — the panel geometry, the material, the tolerances the machines have to hold — exists to carry that composition without distorting it.
That is the whole reason for the technology. Registration accurate enough that a line crossing a seam still reads as one line. Materials chosen for how they take pigment, not for how they photograph. Nothing here is craft for its own sake.
Forty pieces, numbered and closed. Photographed in Milan across three days of rain.
